BROOKLYN, NY (September 22, 2025) – Today, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso released the following statement on today’s vote advancing the Brooklyn Marine Terminal redevelopment project:
“Today I voted to advance the BMT redevelopment project and keep alive this once-in-a-generation opportunity to maximize our waterfront’s economic potential.
To be clear, the fight for the harbor of the future is far from over. There are many decisions we will need to make, reports we will need to scrutinize, and details we will need to comb through. As we transition from the BMT Vision Plan Task Force to new oversight bodies, I will continue fighting for the maritime and industrial future of our waterfront as a member of both the BMT Advisory Task Force and BMT Development Corporation.
A port-first plan can solve for many of the concerns raised throughout this process. It can activate our Blue Highways – keeping trucks off the streets and our air clean – while creating well-paying jobs that will allow working-class New Yorkers to stay in our beloved city.
I am committed to working together with my fellow Task Force members and the community to get this project right and to deliver a working waterfront that maximizes the public good for New Yorkers.”
