BROOKLYN, NY – Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso and BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! invite the public to attend Dominican Night at the Bandshell, a free evening celebrating the music and culture of the Dominican diaspora on Saturday, August 29.
Bringing together some of the biggest voices in Dominican music, the evening will feature performances by Teodoro Reyes, the legendary bachata singer whose love songs have moved listeners across generations; La Insuperable, aka “La Mami del Swagger,” a trailblazer in the Dominican dembow scene; and Aris Jackson, who combines elements of tropical and popular Latin music with charismatic style. The night will also include high-energy sets by DJ Mega Jay.

Dominican Night at the Bandshell is part of BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn!, New York City’s longest-running free outdoor performing arts festival. As the first Dominican American elected to the role of Borough President in New York City, Dominican Night at the Bandshell builds on Borough President Reynoso’s record of uplifting the Dominican diaspora. Last month, Borough President Reynoso hosted his 4th annual Tipico Night at Domino Park, bringing the sounds of the Dominican accordion, tambora, and güira to the Williamsburg waterfront. Brooklyn is home to more than 100,000 Dominicans, making the borough one of the largest Dominican diasporic communities in the United States. For decades, Dominicans have played an essential role in our city, contributing to New York’s economic and cultural development.
