As Part of BP Reynoso’s Mission to Build a Healthier Brooklyn For All, Additional Investments Will Support Infrastructure and Patient Experience Improvements
BROOKLYN, NY — Today, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso announced a $3.85 million allocation of his Fiscal Year 2026 capital funds to deliver critical infrastructure and patient experience improvements at NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health centers across Brooklyn. With funding dedicated to pediatric care, women’s health, dental services and more, these investments expand on Borough President Reynoso’s lasting commitment to closing disparate health outcomes and building a healthier Brooklyn for all. Borough President Reynoso, joined by NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health CEO Michelle Lewis, spoke directly to healthcare providers at Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health, East New York, the largest recipient of today’s funding announcement, to deliver the news.
“Every Brooklynite deserves access to world-class healthcare but there is so much work to be done to overcome decades of inequities and disinvestment,” said Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso. “Gotham Health provides high-quality care to Brooklynites right in their communities, making them a key partner for closing health disparities in our borough. I’m proud to support Gotham Health’s work with $3.85 million in targeted investments to fund improved and expanded care at Gotham Health’s East New York, Cumberland, and Brownsville centers. As a baby born at Gotham Health Cumberland myself, I am so grateful to the Gotham Health team for their daily commitment and service to our borough.”
“We are deeply grateful to Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso for his generous support. These investments will directly enhance patient care across our Brooklyn facilities, including East New York, Cumberland, and Brownsville,” said Michelle Lewis, CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health. “From expanding Dental and Vision services to upgrading HVAC systems and renovating Pediatric and Women’s Health spaces, this funding allows Gotham Health to continue delivering high quality, equitable care in environments that reflect the dignity and needs of our communities.”
Borough President Reynoso’s funding will support upgrades at three NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health sites: East New York, Cumberland, and Brownsville. A marquee $1.75 million investment will support renovations to Gotham Health East New York’s Women’s Health and Pediatric space, delivering a new lactation room and break area in addition to embedding WIC services to the space.
Additional investments at East New York include $650,000 to build out more examination rooms for optometry services and $300,000 for HVAC enhancement. At Cumberland, the Borough President has allocated $250,000 to replace outdated (end-of-life) dental imaging equipment and $150,000 to renovate all eye clinical rooms with modern equipment. At Brownsville, the Borough President has allocated $750,000 to upgrade the facility’s HVAC system to allow for climate control on the first floor of the clinic.
