BROOKLYN, NY (January 27, 2023) – Yesterday, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso hosted a ‘Children’s Winter Village’ at Brooklyn Borough Hall featuring arts & crafts, Lego building, face painting, and even a read-aloud of a couple of books, including Bark, George, by Jules Feiffer. Over 70 families participated in the evening festivities, which were made possible through partnerships with Borough President Reynoso’s city-affiliated charity Brooklyn for All, Inc., Brooklyn Book Bodega, Brooklyn Public Library, National Grid, Ponce Bank, Target, Uber, and Urbanspace.

“At Borough Hall, the winter festivities never end,” said Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso. “I had the best time hanging out with the kids and families of our borough. We played with Legos, made some art, and got to listen to the amazing story of a puppy named George. Borough Hall is the people’s house, and I’m so happy we could provide this evening of family fun for our youngest Brooklynites. A huge thank you to our partners ­– Brooklyn for All, Inc., Brooklyn Book Bodega, Brooklyn Public Library, National Grid, Ponce Bank, Target, Uber, and Urbanspace – for helping us put together this great event.”

“Brooklyn Public Library was proud to partner with Borough President Reynoso for the Children’s Winter Village at Borough Hall,” said Nick Higgins, Chief Librarian at Brooklyn Public Library. “We were thrilled to lead Winter Storytime as we celebrated the magic of the season with the youngest Brooklynites and their families, and we encourage them to keep reading this winter and beyond.”

“Selecting books that they want to read, hearing books read aloud, and being part of book culture are integral to helping kids become lifelong readers,” said Rebecca Cohen, Executive Director and Cofounder of Brooklyn Book Bodega. “We want that opportunity for all our kids and families regardless of background or economic status. Brooklyn Book Bodega’s mission is to increase the number of 100+ book homes in NYC and we were thrilled to share our mission with kids and families today.
