NYC Aging Will Present an Overview of Services Available to Help Brooklyn’s 480,000 Older Adults Age in Place

BROOKLYN, NY (April 18, 2023) – On Friday, April 21, from 10:30am – 12pm, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso’s Department of Constituent Services will host the third installment of their community resource information series launched in February. The session will be presented by the NYC Department for the Aging and share services available to support older New Yorkers’ ability to age in place in their homes and communities. There will be a Q&A session following the presentation, and attendees will also have access to local nonprofits and city agencies that will be tabling and providing additional resources at the event. Translation services will be available in Mandarin and Spanish.

The first session, hosted on February 21 at the Brooklyn Public Library’s Brooklyn Heights branch, was presented by the NYC Human Resources Administration/Department of Social Services (HRA/DSS) and discussed resources for cash assistance, employment services, child support services, homelessness prevention, and more. The NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) presented the second session of March 23 at the Brooklyn Public Library’s Grand Army Plaza location and focused on safe and effective methods for rat prevention in homes, buildings, and communities.

The Mayor’s Public Engagement Unit (PEU) will present the fourth session of the series on Wednesday, May 17, 6pm – 8pm at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum: 145 Brooklyn Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11213. Additional details to come.
