BROOKLYN, NY (November 18, 2022) – Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, in coordination with his city-affiliated charitable corporation Brooklyn for All, Inc., today hosted the administration’s first Thanksgiving food distribution, supporting nearly 100 local Brooklyn nonprofits’ holiday programming. Through sponsorships and support from nine organizations, the receiving nonprofits each received two frozen turkeys, a box of canned goods and starches, and multiple parcels of assorted fruits and vegetables. Sponsors and supporters of Borough President Reynoso’s Thanksgiving giveaway included Aetna Better Health of NY, Hispanic Federation, Hunts Point Produce Market, Kings Plaza / Macerich, National Grid, National Supermarket Association, New York City Hospitality Alliance, Ponce Bank, and Wegmans.

“Families throughout Brooklyn feel food insecurities and the impacts of our high cost to living every day of the year, but especially around the holidays when everyone wants to celebrate with loved ones and express their culture through food. We have to address these issues on a larger scale, making food and nutrition more accessible and sustainable for everyone,” said Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso. “So many organizations throughout our borough work tirelessly to create access to food for some of our most vulnerable residents, and they need the support to continue doing that work. I’m grateful to our nonprofit, Brooklyn for All, and all of our generous partners that were able to come together to give these organizations that added support this season, making this Thanksgiving a little bit easier for our neighbors.”

“Putting the people of Brooklyn first is our number one priority at Brooklyn for All during this holiday season as we battle food insecurity. We are proud to drive our Borough President’s vision to create a Brooklyn that is for all Brooklynites. We are grateful for all of our sponsors and supporters who believe in our work and service,” said Brooklyn for All, Inc. Board Chair Dr. Debbie Almontaser.

The local Brooklyn nonprofits selected to be a part of Borough President Reynoso and Brooklyn for All’s Thanksgiving food distribution were all 501(c)(3) organizations. In their food bundles, the organizations received turkeys, starches, assorted non-perishables, fruits, and vegetables to help supplement their Thanksgiving programing next week. The 100 organizations span the borough.
